Pewter is a fine metal that’s malleability means it can be beautifully structured to create pieces in many different formats.

Sue’s unique Repoussé approach uses a technique that works design from both sides of the metal which is then embellished with semi-precious stones, crystals and agate.

The Repoussé process starts with an artist sketch, if the piece is commission this is the stage it is presented to the client. On approval, it is then developed into a template design.

At this stage, Sue selects the semi-precious stones, crystals and agate.

The design is then hand worked into the metal using specialised tools and techniques, the metal is then treated in order to accentuate and preserve the design. In the next stage the semi-precious stones, crystals and agate are then inlayed.

The pewter is then finished and polished.

The modern pewter Sue uses does not contain any lead.
