Sue Rawley is a repoussé artist living in London. Sue designs and creates handmade furniture, mirrors and beautiful boxes with repoussé sheet pewter, embellished with semi-precious stones, crystals and agate. Each piece is an exclusive creation designed and produced by Sue in her magical London studio. Sue is influenced by the Arts & Crafts movement, and the Art Nouveau period. She finds inspiration for her work through the beauty of nature and draws energy from the crystals she uses in her pieces.

As a child, Sue would spend most weekends with her grandmother, and this is where Sue's artistic journey began. They would draw together, go to galleries and museums, finding inspiration from natural environments such as local parks. The two together could be regularly be seen on treasure hunt rambles collecting shells, stones, broken china & glass for their artwork.

The path to Pewter came from her grandmother, who used the metal art of repoussé to decorate lids on small boxes as gifts. She spent hours showing Sue her technique.

Sue went to Art School and trained as a graphic designer & printer and went on to have a successful career designing record covers..

Sue never forgot the Pewter Technique, though. Whenever she had the time, Sue would work with Pewter on her own private projects. It constantly gave her so much inspiration and joy. Later on in her artistic path, Sue started to collect semi-precious stones, vintage pearls, and crystals and decided to use them in her work. After having her children, she decided to become a full-time repoussé artist.

Every piece of work is designed and hand made by Sue, which means no two pieces are the same. Sue loves to discuss personalised commissions with her clients. Recent commissions have included a beautiful frame to mark the birth of a grandchild embellished with the baby’s birthstone and date of birth, an interior centrepiece for a clients hallway of a beautiful large mirror and a treasure box for clients memories and precious troves, a bespoke jewellery box commissioned for a marriage anniversary.

Sue is a member of the Worshipful Company of Pewterers and has been honoured with awards for her work from the Company.
